The Lab Series is the future of exclusive bowling ball performance. Built in a lab where possibilities are endless, and innovation is the only acceptable outcome. The Level is the first ball in the new Lab Series. Each product in the Lab Series represents countless hours of experimentation, refinement, and the use of groundbreaking materials. The goal of the Lab Series is to explore chemistry and weight block paths never pursued before in order to give bowlers ball reaction that is completely different from anything seen in the industry. The Lab Series is not limited to a specific type of ball reaction. Some of the earliest and smoothest directions will be explored in the Lab Series as well as some of the latest and most angular paths. Bowlers will find the Lab Series is for those who understand that excellence has no ceiling, who recognize that true innovation comes at a premium. These products are created without compromise, designed for bowlers who demand the absolute top of performance.
Wrapped around the new Level is a new coverstock material that has physical properties never seen before in the bowling industry. This makes the Level a great choice when consistent, continuous, predictable ball motion is needed.

The new Equalizer core is designed to respond slower to friction providing the player maximum control. The RPM coverstock is where the "new" comes into play. This coverstock absorbs oil allowing the player to stay in the Level longer than traditional urethane type offerings. When the initial announcement came out from SPI regarding the Level I already had the mindset that as long as I'm not rolling in a PBA event, I'll stick with the Pitch Black and Fast Pitch offerings. To my surprise the Level created more shape then my Pitch Black and was more usable after a few games compared to the Fast Pitch. In addition, the Level transitioned smoother down the lane compared to the Tropical Surge Navy/Purple. As for the !Q Tour 78-U, the Level will shape more for most style of players. Pro Tip: For those that traditionally tend to dislike urethane or urethane-ish offerings, don't hesitate to surface your new ball to a higher grit like 3K or 4K than gradually bring the surface down to your 1K or 500K grit. The reason being most bowlers dislike the early motion of the ball oob and give up before letting the lane shine and peaks of the ball to settle in a bit. If you have had this experience previously give the surface suggestion the "good old college try". I think this pro tip might just work for you. I think you may find a great use for this ball when planning out your tournament adventures. I highly recommend the Level.
